The Empty Cube

The beauty of each morning is that even though some of the people here on The Empty Cube have been unemployed for a day, a week and for some more than that, it still is a new beginning,
The question one has to ask is "what the heck am I going to do differently than I did yesterday".
Well believe it or not, you do have choices. One choice is keep doing what you're doing, meaning, look through the classifieds for a job in your field of expertise and if that does not seem to be there then a job for a means of support and paying your bills. You continue to cross your fingers and hope each day something out there becomes available for you.....and five thousand other people as well!!
The other choice is to sit down, take a deep breath and think about what you have to offer if you started something on your own. Now I'm sure that's not going to bring in the paycheck on Friday but did you realize that during the period of "The Great Depression", more millionaires were created because at that time more people had to come up with a different way of doing something to stay alive, and feed theior families.
They took their situation and turned it into something productive and in the end there were a lot of wealthy people who perservered during an extreme economic period.
Try and creat a list of what it is you could offer if you became the "CEO" of your own corporation.
Prepare an action plan that will determine the steps needed to be established in order for you to reach your goals. Make your goals reachable, that is, do not make your goals impossible to accomplish. The old adage "Rome was not built in a day holds so true. Take it one day at a time, and be the very best you can be at what it is you choose to do. Make sure it is ethical, and moral so thaty people will respect your venture.
Remember that your credibility starting from day one is one of the most important factors in becoming successful. Read everything there is to read on the subject you have chosen to do and become the expert in your field. Make sure on the first day you start, you have 100% commitment on your part to do what it takes to succeed.
It is in times like this that people in difficult situations will come forth and shine. Some people will not get it, others will watch it go by, and the last group of people with their backs to the wall will grab onto a dream of not relying on anyone else to dictate what time they get up, how much they make, when they will take vacation and how much they will save. It has come to a point in our history when desparate people will rise to the occassion and show the 3% of the people who control the 97% of what the rest of the people do, that they are sick and tired of being sick and tired!

In these terrible economic times, do not let anyone kill your dreams...to your success
