Our Dress Code

Like the corporate world, The Empty Cube has a “Dress Code”. Yet, our “Dress Code” doesn’t spell out a tedious list of guidelines relating to hemlines, piercings, or personal hygiene. Rather, our Dress Code is meant to facilitate the continued growth of a respectful and vibrant community where each member can comfortably share his/her thoughts and ideas.

The intent of the “Dress Code” isn’t to limit your self-expression, or even censor your ideas. We love the passion and enthusiasm of our members; it’s what makes this site great! However, so long as we all agree to follow a few very basic rules of protocol, the community will continue to thrive.

GENERAL ETIQUETTE

• Respect all members and guests; all posts on The Empty Cube should be professional.

• Criticism of posts by other members should be done in a respectful and constructive manner.

• Try to be helpful and supportive to other members; remember, you get what you give!

• Try to be upbeat. Individuals and employers are naturally drawn to those who exude positive energy.

THUMBS DOWN

• Avoid personal attacks on other members or former employers/colleagues.

• Mean-spirited remarks or intolerant posts may be removed from the site.

• Subversive behavior isn’t welcome on The Empty Cube.

• Don’t spam community members with your resume, untargeted advertisements, or unsolicited requests. It’s annoying.

MY CUBE ETIQUETTE

• Keep your My Cube profile page fresh with frequent posts and a profile picture.

• “Power Posters”(those who contribute/post regularly to the community) not only receive the most visits to their My Cube profile page, but also develop the deepest relationships with other community members. Let’s hear what you have to say!

• Don’t let your My Cube profile page get stale.

• Low resolution photos shouldn’t be uploaded to the site.

DISCUSSION FORUM ETIQUITTE

• Utilize the forum to engage fellow members in a meaningful discussion of a relevant subject.

• Tap the collective wisdom of the community, by soliciting opinions and advice from other members.

• The Forum is meant to facilitate back-and-forth discussions among members of the Empty Cub. Please avoid posting self- promotional biographical/professional information; the best place to promote yourself is on your individual My Cube profile page.

• The Empty Cube reserves the right to remove any post on The Forum that serves no apparent purpose other than to shill your company’s products or services.

THUMBS UP

• Organize, upload, and promote relevant events to The Empty Cube community.

• Local or virtual jobless support groups, recruiting events, and professional training opportunities are just some events The Empty Cube community may be interested in attending.

• Please don’t advertise events that aren’t relevant to The Empty Cube community anywhere on the site.

BLOG ETIQUITTE

• Blogs are a great forum to share your opinions and promote your professional expertise with not only The Empty Cube community, but also a wider audience.

• A thoughtful, well-written blog can go a long way towards promoting your “personal brand” to potential employers.

• It is not uncommon for companies to search the Internet for blog posts by candidates they are interviewing. Consequently, please carefully review your blog entries before publishing.
